Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew

Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew’s mission is to be the global resource for plant and fungal knowledge, building an understanding of the world’s plants and fungi.

The core purpose of Kew’s science stems from a simple but often overlooked truth: all our lives depend on plants and fungi. Through their collections, people and partnerships Kew makes invaluable and highly relevant contributions to some of the biggest issues facing the global population.

Both Kew Gardens, London’s largest UNESCO World Heritage with the most diverse collection of living plants in the world, and the country estate of Wakehurst with its gardens, woodlands, wildlife and nature reserve, are supported by the efforts of around committed 500 volunteers

Our Award partnership with Kew was developed to recognise both the professional and voluntary efforts involved in this important field of work.
