Royal Entomological Society

The Royal Entomological Society is devoted to the promotion and development of entomological science. The Society supports international collaboration, research and publication. It aims to promote excellence in entomology and demonstrate the importance of studying insects to everyone.

Insects have been around for more than 350 million years, longer than the dinosaurs and flowering plants. Over one millions different species have already been identified, but it is estimated that there could be as many as 10 million different species.

Studying insects is crucial to our understanding of human disease, agriculture, evolution, ecology and biodiversity and we work with the Royal Entomological Society to recognise those who conserve, study and celebrate the most diverse group of animals on earth.
