Awards

Marsh Award for Wetland Conservation

This Award is run in association with the Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust (WWT) and recognises the best individual effort in local wetland creation (i.e. in back gardens).

The 2009 winner is Glenn Langler

Glenn is an Ecologist for Halcrow and has designed and created the winning 'Wetland in My Backyard' himself. His intention was to share the garden with nature as much as possible and has managed to create one that others can aspire to, yet one that is also equally attainable.

In terms of wildlife, Glenn has found Great Crested Newts and Emperor dragonflies living in his pond and has been able to introduce Smooth Newts to the new environment.

It is not just a wildlife garden , but also a productive garden that is very much somewhere for people to spend time.
