Marsh Young Volunteer of the Year Award

This award recognises the contribution made by a young person, up to the age of 25, who volunteers for Barnardo's and make a significant contribution to the work of Barnardo's in any area of activity.

Nominations will be sought for those young people who have demonstrated levels of commitment beyond that expected, which may include overcoming personal adversity or impairment.

The 2013 winner is Jenny Rivers

Jenny has first-hand experience of Barnardo’s work as she is an ex-services user. She first came into contact with Barnardo’s when she was a young girl. Since then, she has continuously shown her commitment by valuably volunteering for Barnardo’s whenever she can.

Jenny has volunteered her time to help raise funds for Barnardo’s by chairing the newly formed Action with Young Carers Friends of Group. She is a regular speaker at conferences and events promoting Barnardo’s work amongst supporters and has helped to inspire members of the public, staff and volunteers by giving talks at the North West Volunteers Conference in 2011 and 2012. Jenny is a busy mum but always makes time to volunteer and help Barnardo’s in any way that she can. She is a true ambassador for the organisation.
