Marsh Award for Outstanding Achievement in Work with Children & Families

This Award recognises an organisation of any type that has made the greatest achievement in work with children and families over the course of a year.

The focus of this Award allows both the Marsh Christian Trust and Barnardo's to recognise other organisations, outside Barnardo's, who have made a significant contribution to the welfare and support of children and families.

The 2013 winner is Helen Alves

Missing People is a national charity that works across the UK providing support to families who have a loved one missing as well as providing support to adults and young people who are themselves missing. Helen manages the Family Support services. She has shown an exceptional level of care and passion in developing services to best meet the needs of families. She has also led the way in developing a telephone service offering counselling for family members who need additional support with coping with the reality of having their loved one missing.

Helen has spoken at many UK and national conferences and has delivered training sessions to practitioners working in related fields. She goes above and beyond in her compassion and care for the people she supports and is a true champion of the families of Missing People.
